BIOLASE, Inc. is a medical device company and global market leader in the manufacturing and marketing of proprietary dental laser systems that enable dentists and dental specialists to perform a broad range of minimally invasive dental procedures, including cosmetic, restorative, and surgical applications. BIOLASE has sold over 36,200 laser systems to date in over 90 countries around the world.
When BIOLASE made the shift away from large floor-mounted laser units to lightweight hand-held units they quickly realized that they needed to completely redesign the product packaging. The biggest challenge was how to protect the laser equipment and still provide a high-end customer experience? The solution was to build the outer retail packaging for strong corrugated packaging and construct the inside from closed-cell medical-grade foam. To continue the high-end look and feel, the structure was covered in a 6-color litho-laminated print and then covered in a “soft-touch” flexible varnish.
